Who is in it?
Robert Downey Jnr and Gwyneth Paltrow are joined by Ben Kingsley (on awesome form), Guy Pearce and Rebecca Hall and Ty Simpkins, who gets a mention because he falls into the category of a child actor who plays annoying but isn’t annoying.
What is it about?
This one is more about the man beneath the suit than any of the others. Following the events of The Avengers (I’m not calling it the Avengers freaking Assemble) Tony Stark goes through something of a personal crisis especially as when he’s at his most vulnerable, a terrorist attack gets somewhat personal embroiling his loyal friend Happy and put upon partner Pepper ( easier to type than say!) in the carnage.
Or as IMDB puts it “When Tony Stark’s world is torn apart by a formidable terrorist called the Mandarin, he starts an odyssey of rebuilding and retribution.”
Why did I want to watch it?
It’s a Marvel film. Also Shane “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” Black is directing Robert Downey Junior again – squeeeee!
Did I like it?
Hell Yeah! Also double Hell Yeah for the end of credits sequence.
Should you watch it?
I doubt anyone who should watch this needs convincing after the 2 previous Iron Man outings and The Avengers. If you enjoy snark and Robert Downey Junior, he is on top form here.
Other films it reminds me of:
It’s a threequel and part of a massive franchise. I therefore will allow you to draw your own conclusions.
Watch this instead/as well/before/after:
I’m going to hunt out Kiss Kiss Bang Bang to rewatch and The Avengers will no doubt get another play or two in the next few weeks.
